After becoming a Power Ranger and learning his true identity, Topher Grant visits the planet of his mother's people with his aunt for the summer. When he returns home to Angel Grove, he expects life to go back to normal. Though most of his friends have returned to their homes, on Earth or otherwise, he still has his best friend, Laiken and his girlfriend Arya. But things do not go as planned.

A crystalline princess has come to Earth seeking the Power Rangers in order to warn them of an impending attack and to instill them with the power of the Amajin Stones grown on her planet by gifted cultivators. Coming to Earth and taking the form of a retired scientist's late daughter, together they head to Angel Grove to find the Power Rangers just ahead of the forces sent by the Engulfing Darkness of the Zaalamheim Empire.

When the Empire attacks, Topher, his friends, and two other students find themselves in the middle of everything and become the Amazing Power Rangers!
