When they emerge, the Lion and the Tiger will tear asunder what was wrought long ago.

It's 2009 and a new class dawns for the Pai Zhuq school. Master Mao, of the Order of the Claw, is tasked to oversee the protection of the seal containing a the dark spirit of an ancient evil. Two new cubs each with the spirit of a big cat, a Tiger and a Lion, were a pair of mischevious twins. Playing around with their new ability to release they're animal spirits, the boys are roughhousing and they accidentally unleash the ancient spirit Dai Shi. Taking possession of the boy with the Lion spirit, Dai Shi begins his plans for world domination by awakening his ancient army. Taking responsibility for his own faults, the Tiger vows to defeat the evil and free his brother. He and two senior Cubs, Spring Baker, and Bailey Munoz, are sent Ocean Bluff to find someone who can help. With RJ Finn, a lackadaisacal Master in the Order, granting them access to newly created Morph technology, they become the Jungle Fury Power Rangers and fight against Dai Shi.

Meanwhile, something else is afoot. Another ancient spirit has been quietly awakened. Banished to space, contained in a vessel, the evil shark spirit Sha Yu has taken possession of a very special young man with a shark spirit. Corrupting not only him, but two other young men he shares a bond with. Fox Oliver had been in the KO system for months, helping win a civil war against a corrupt dictator. When he returns to Earth, he's taken on a dig with his achaeologist parents to be used a dictator. But the ruins they were exploring activated a trinket he found on one of KO's moons, releasing Sha Yu. He summed the Chameleon Spirit who called herself Camille. Taking possession of young man, Sha Yu begins setting in motion his own plans. Realizing that through Fox he can also influence and taint two others he shares a strange bond with. Using ruses to summon Mason and Rex Hart, Sha Yu gains control over them and they disappear.

Camille is sent to help Dai Shi in his bid against the Jungle Fury Rangers in order to gain access to his army for Sha Yu's purposes. In an elaborate ruse, she entrusts to him three young men she seemingly bewitched who became evil Spirit Rangers. These Rangers often battled against the Jungle Fury Rangers. Eventually necessitating the need for RJ to suit once more as the Jungle Fury Wolf Ranger.

But those three boys weren't people who could just disappear without anyone noticing. Joining the fray eventually are three girls. Melody Robinson, Zara Rahl, and Chloe Kennedy arrive in Ocean Bluff on the hunt for the missing trio. They join the battle against evil. They eventually become Power Rangers. Once they discover the identities of the Spirit Rangers, they manage to free them of Sha Yu's control.

But Sha Yu still has his own plans, and had managed to to make a new body for himself. Meanwhile, Camille is questioning her role in everything, falling for Dai Shi's host. With her help, they also manae to free him of Dai Shi's control. Taking Dai Shi's power for himself, Sha Yu becomes the biggest threat and it takes all of them to defeat him once and for all.
