Chapter 01: Unfinished Pilot

Space

A small space craft travelled through space. It deliberately didn't have markings of any identifiable organization. It was big enough to support several people for several months, but not much larger than that. The destination was Earth. Two crew members currently manned the ship. Both were mid-ranking officers in the Galimatias Special Police Organization.

Parvaneh Ahmadi was a bit of no nonsense young woman with warm skin, sharp features and dark eyes. Dark hair that was given to curl was ruthlessly pulled into a bun against her head. She wore a dark  training suit that splashed the Organizations initials along the sides. She was the junior partner on this venture to a planet she'd never really heard of before. In the Organization, she was more like a spokesperson than an actual feild officer despite her qualifications.

The same could be said for her partner, even though their approaches were totally different. Without a stellar background or interpersonal connections to get ahead in Galimatian society, Firahni Desari had been largely given drudge work, or impossible tasks, such as tracking down a criminal called Astronema before the statute of limitations of her crime was over. Failure was assured thus he would be continually passed over for promotion.

But Firahni was good at his job and had managed to do it. It ended up being the wrong Astronema, and the other one had been brainwashed. It hadn't mattered in the long run because he'd ended up joining another planet's cause for freedom and became a Power Ranger.

He'd expected his career to be pretty much over when he returned home, but the higher-ups seized on the opportunity to promote him as a GPSO who fought for freedom and became a Power Ranger. There were motivations behind it. Cheifly, the government was hoping to gain access to Morphing technology, but Rahn had no technical skills and couldn't help with that, but the tantalizing chance that he had connections gave him a bit of leverage within the Organization. It kept him from being a puppet figurehead and actually allowed him to do his work.

Peri was checking the navigation imput on a console on the bridge. It was because of that leverage that this mission was even possible. She was skeptical about the whole thing.

Rahn was leaning against another console watching her double check for the billionth time. They'd worked together before, but this would be the first time they were actually partners. Their paths had intersected on this case as they came at from different directions.

An inter-stellar gang of theives had stolen a number of cultural treasures from around Galamatias. But they didn't just steal, they left wafts of devastation in their wake when met with resistance. GPSO battleroids were no match. While tracking them, Rahn had discovered that other planets had similarly been robbed of such treasures. But it was Peri that had discovered that their next target was Earth.

"We still on course?" He asked her. He'd let hair get longer than regulations allowed and it hung in his face.

Peri made a face at him. "I'm still not sure about this whole thing," she said.

"The Monarchy wants it treasures back and Morphing technology. This is the only way either of those things will happen," he said.

Peri looked at a case that was locked not only biometrically, but with other measures as well, such as psychic signatures, and an old fashioned passcode. No one could open it except Firahni Desari. "How is this benefitting anyone?" she demanded.

Rahn gave a sardonic smile. "If it's a success GPSO gets to boast that it's officers are Power Rangers who took down inter-stellar gang of thieves and terrorists. If it's a fail, we were rogue officers and the Terrans are to blame," he said.

"And what do the Terrans get out of this? Do you really trust these people?" she asked.

Rahn's smile slipped. "I'd trust these people with my life. I have. The Organization could learn about loyalty from people like them," he said. "And what the Terrans get is our information and help protecting their planet," he said.

Peri didn't answer. There was nothing she could say. He was her superior on this mission, and he knew the Terrans. So she just had to trust his judgement as they hurtled through space toward a small blue planet that would decide her future.
